In 1586, René Jacob, legal expert, bought the "fief de Tigné-Chacé-Boureau" situated between the Loire and the Thouet, in the South-West of Saumur.
For three centuries, the Jacob family lived in the property of Dampierre sur Loire.
During the XVIIIth century, the Jacob de Tigné were a very powerfull family : they bought others "fiefs", had good marriages and joined Jérusalem and Malte orders.
When Joseph de Tigné married Jeanne Arnoul de Morains in 1756, the "château de Morains" in Dampierre entered the family property. Their son Jean, borned in 1765, was landed with the property and married Henriette de Billon. The revolution time stopped their privileges ; then the family produced wine.

Near 1834, they built a perpendicular wing "style directoire", then a tower between the two parts of the castle and also the actual outbuilding and the dovecot.
Their son Léon married Modeste Mayaud in 1838. When he died in 1875, he had no child and his widow transfered to one of her nephew.
